Private Island, 5 Bedroom, 6 Bathrooms, Pool, Staff, 360 Degree Oceanview

Amazing brand new custom high end 5 bedroom, 6 bath home on private-island. Your own private island! Only your group and the onsite staff, who have separate detached housing, will be on the island during your stay. This uniquely designed compound home includes 5 private suites specifically laid out to take advantage of the amazing sea and mountain views and the cool trade winds right off the Placencia Peninsula in Southern Belize.

Little Harvest Caye (LHC) is a 1.5 acre island that is located just 3/4 of a mile from the center of Placencia Village. LHC was completed in January of 2016. The island is uniquely situated to have panoramic views in all directions of the Maya Mountains, open ocean and Placencia Village.

Little Harvest Caye offers an experience like no other in Belize. We offer the service and amenities of our other private luxury homes on the mainland in the Placencia area, on your own private island just a short 5 minute boat ride from the charming Placencia Village. You have a boat and driver at your disposal to go any time for dinner, bar hopping, shopping, or taking in the many other sites and attractions. Thus guests of LHC truly have the best of both worlds, the privacy, exclusivity and uniqueness of being on a private island, all the comforts of home (ac in all bedrooms, wifi, cable tv etc.) and the convenience and ability to take the LHC private boat to the village anytime to enjoy all that Placencia has to offer.

LHC is outfitted with all the comforts of home including high-end eco friendly Bamboo Sheets, Heavenly Bed style mattresses and everything else you would expect from a high end resort.

Some resorts talk about being green but LHC is legitimately about as green as any property can get. LHC is power by a state of the art 45,000 watt solar system, with literally a room full of batteries to power the island when the sun is not out making it truly off-grid.

While LHC does have new very quite clean burning butane 40KW back up generator to provide power to the island during extended periods of rain or heavy clouds its use is not required under normal circumstances and responsible use of the air conditioners in each of the bedrooms. A very focused building design effort and details like all lighting on island being the latest in LED technology, all butane cooking, water heating and even refrigeration, all ceiling fans being the most efficient DC technology on the market and the in room mini split AC systems all employing the latest extremely efficient and quiet inverter type units, truly make it where LHC can satisfy 100% of its electric needs from its solar system.

Placencia itself also is an ideal location to explore all Belize has to offer. In Placencia you have access to both land and sea tours and excursions most less than 1 hour away. Our concierge, Mabel will assist in planning and booking your activities to enable you to get the most out of your trip.

Placencia and the area around LHC is home to some of the best salt water fly fishing for Bone, Permit and Tarpon on the world as well as amazing snook, snapper and other fishing literally right off of the island.

Placencia is also know for amazing diving and snorkeling including an annual visit each year in the Months of March to June of the amazing and elusive Whale Shark.

All the dive boats and fishing boats leaving from Placencia drive past the island every day when they are heading out and returning for the day! The LHC concierge can arrange to have guests going diving and fishing to be picked up and dropped off at the island dock.

Whether you want explore Belize to the fullest or relax by the pool Little Harvest Caye will provide a vacation like no other.

Delights Beyond an Angler's Expectations

Most of my visits to Belize have been driven by saltwater fly fishing -- especially for permit. When you're on a fishing trip with the guys, it's about the fishing...if you're fed something, have access to few cold beers and there are no creatures in your bed, you're pretty content. LHC was not that sort of island retreat! I was visiting with some friends as part of a good friend's 60th birthday celebration. It wasn't a fishing trip perse, though we did retain a guide for a few days to get our casts in. Little Harvest Caye is well-positioned for guests hoping to mix land and water pursuits -- just a mile or so from the town of Placencia, so you have privacy (e.g., no one swimming out to practice their downward dog on the beach before your dwelling), but if you need something on land (or want to do a land-based tour), it's a five- or ten-minute boat ride away (and the Caye has its own boat/captain). The accommodations are just lovely. My buddy and I shared a large room with two very comfortable beds and floor-to-ceiling windows looking out on the sea. I couldn't help but think that my wife would've appreciated the room's many nice accoutrements (including powerful air conditioning) more than I...but even with my limited aesthetics, I really enjoyed the semi-open, ample bathroom, where I could look out at the saltwater while I washed it off my person. I can't say enough about the food. Though I love to fish, I don't eat seafood. On those nights when fish was on the menu, our chef Ernesto accommodated my diet with chicken, beef or pork -- and I was hardly settling. If there were tortillas, they were made right in the kitchen from masa. If there was lasagna (and there was -- with braised beef rib filling!) -- the noodles were made from scratch in the kitchen. The folks who staffed the island -- a total of five -- were extremely friendly, happy to discuss their lives on and off the island. It was very easy to plan day outings (and the Gecko folks are happy to do the planning for you); while my buddy and I fly fished three days (tarpon and bonefish landed; permit were being persnickety, as is their wont), others went snorkeling or shopping in town. Several of us had work to chisel away at while visiting; we found both the internet connection and phone service to be more than adequate. It was a guilty pleasure to tell one of my editors that I was finishing up a story while having a gin and tonic and watching sailboats float by from my private island. When we weren't enjoying cocktails in the thatched room great room in the evening, we tried our luck fishing from the dock. Tarpon came in several nights, and we hooked several (even one on the fly rod)...when the night owls exhausted with fishing, there was a pool table...and even cable tv to catch the AL wildcard game (sorry, A's!) If you have a group of 8 or 10 friends who want to do some active activities but are also happy to chill; enjoy fine food; and relish the idea of your own little turnkey tropical idyll (that can be reached in one day from Los Angeles), consider LHC. It's not cheap -- but really, when you consider the level of service, the amenities and can split the fee between 10 people -- it's actually a pretty good deal.

Our group could not have been more surprised to be there. It was like heaven. From the planning stages to being informed of what to expect upon our arrival in Placencia. Nothing was missed. When we were brought to the island we were all in amazement. The island is AWESOME!! Well laid out and everything ready for our arrival. The rooms were well decorated and clean. I guess what was really the best, was Ernesto and the kitchen crew preparing our meals. He is so amazing with finding fresh produce and seafood and his presentation of the meal was incredible. His knowledge of preparing everything from breakfast to dinner is amazing.. All I can say is enjoy!!! Everything you need to have fun at the island is there for your enjoyment. Kayaks, paddle board, cornhole board, horseshoes all on the beach. Miguel is ready to take you by boat back to the mainland if you need too. It was so nice to spend the week and decompress. Sitting by the pool or swimming in the ocean was so relaxing. They have thought of everything here. They will even put up a big screen for movies at night. Cindy takes care of the rooms and does your laundry there on the island. She is amazing too. Everything is tidy , clean and ready for you each day. Our crew was Ernesto, Cindy, Miguel, Oscar, and Jose. They are fantastic and are there to make sure you are taken care of. They took great care of us. Thank You so much!!!

Truly Paradise

We had our group of 8 stay for a week. It was the best vacation we have all had hands down. The staff was not only attentive and professional, but also extremely sweet and friendly and fun! They were available any time that we needed them and always with a smile a great attitude. The food was out of this world! I highly recommend eating on the island as much as possible! The rooms were clean and breathtaking and comfortable. We all slept so so well there. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Restful, Relaxing, Rejuvenating AMAZING

Our stay at LHC was incredible. We had 12 people ranging in age from 47 - 90 and everyone was comfortable. STAFF: The staff is incredible. Miguel, Mike, Ernesto, Jose and Sandy made sure we were taken care of and that we felt right at home. Ernesto was our chef for the week and each and every meal was amazing. And he was able to accommodate where we had some dietary restrictions and some last minute additions. He never missed a beat and even was able to do some special desserts for us (ask him about the plantain bread pudding when you go). He and Miguel ensured that we were all well fed! Mike and Jose carted us from LHC to Placencia and were a wealth of knowledge about Belize overall and Placencia in particular. And their sense of humor was infectious! And the amazing Sandy came in like a whisper and made sure everything was clean and in place and that our laundry was done. I cannot thank them enough for everything they did for us! ISLAND: The bungalows are extremely comfortable, well appointed. The breezes that come through during the day help quite a bit (it is extremely warm and humid in Belize). The pool is quite refreshing and the central cabana is a great place to gather and talk and play games. An important note: we had 12 people but it was a mix of families so there was an odd number of bungalow mates. It is really more set up for folks who can truly sleep 2 to a bed to be most fair. The person who used the twin rollaway bed, said it was actually very comfortable so that was not an issue, but they were the one person with out a "real" bed. Just something to consider. We had a 50/50 experience with bug bites. So you may need to experiment with repellent. Not horrible but the sand flies were quite active on our trip. Pay attention to the amazing woodwork! OTHER: We did some touring. We used Captain Jaks. The were very nice, but be sure you are clear on which Maya Ruins tour you are doing. There is a 1.5 hour trip (one way) to the ruins (south ruins) and a 3 hour trip (one way) to the ruins (largest ruins). Our actual guide (south ruins) was Israel from Truly Wild Belize (see review on Trip Advisor). We also did a zip lining trip and Silvan and William were amazing! Also through Captain Jak's. We explored Placencia as well. Highly recommend AJ's for johnny cakes and Dawn's for lunch. AND TUTTI FRUITI IS A MUST DO FOR GELATO! Again, just remember on your excursions it is extremely warm so stay hydrated and use lots of sunscreen.

The entire experience is as advertised. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the pool area and entertainment area, awesome! What also sets this apart is the staff. Very attentive and super helpful, and the Chef (Ernesto), wow. The food was fresh, healthy and delicious and he is extremely accommodating. We had some good allergies and it was not a problem. I would highly recommend this as a destination with friends and family!

Amazing private island!

Our family of nine had a fantastic stay at Little Harvest Caye over the Christmas break! It rained the first day and a half, but there was plenty to do - ping pong, pool table, giant jenga, games, movies and more! Our kids had a great time kayaking to a nearby shipwreck and paddle boarding around the island to see the many starfish. The staff is fabulous - very friendly, helpful and the food was great!!! Ernesto, the chef, was willing to accomodate in anyway. He even made a made a last minute birthday cake for our daughter and the staff sang to her :) Miguel drove us to the mainland and around the nearby islands. The bungalows are clean, spacious and equipped with open air showers. Each one has its own patio facing the ocean. We highly recommend the snorkeling excursion! Captain Jak’s picked us up directly from the island and we were the only people on our boat. We swam with turtles, sharks and lots of beautiful fish. Thanks to Talia for answering our many questions and making the reservation process worry-free! Just a couple sugesstions - would be great to have robes in the bathroom and more beach towels. We highly recommend visiting.

Hard to decide the best part of staying here - rooms, food or staff?

We had a wonderful week at LHC! So hard to decide the best part - food? accommodations? staff? For sure everyone in our group - ages 15 - 80 thought the food was amazing! The staff was so helpful and friendly. The central room was a great hangout for us- we played alot of pool! We only did two excursions - one dive and one Mayan Ruin day - other than that we all relaxed on the island - it was terrific. The two guests in their 20's visited town the most and enjoyed the nightlife there. We also watched some football in town when the TV cable was on the fritz. I would recommend this location for multi-generational families and especially families with kids. We loved staying here.

It was everything as anticipated. Excellent staff aboard island whether it involved food, assistance or boating. They all were friendly and very attentive. We had upwards of 14 people coming and going and the feedback from them was also excellent. What a completely great Thanksgiving week on LHC.

Perfect Vacation

Where to start? My spouse and I travel frequently and this was one of the best vacations we've ever had. Everything and I mean everything was perfect! The property is beautiful and we would easily rate it 5 stars. The staff were super accommodating and served us with a smile. Ernesto, the chef and Mike, the sous chef were incredible. Excellent meals, that were artistic in presentation, including lobster several times! We ate in Palcencia a couple of times where the food was good, but not as good as what Ernesto and Mike prepared! The island is close enough to Palcencia so going into town was easy and quick. Miguel would just boat us over ( in the islands private boat) any time of the day or night. Excursions were wonderful and we were picked up on the islands private pier which meant we didn't have to go stand in any lines or go wait in a tour companies office. This was a very relaxing trip, with beauty treatments, including massages and mani/pedis offered on the island. Hair braiding is also offered, which was fun and convenient (who wants to mess with hair on vacation)? There were no negatives on this trip. Everything from travel, food, accommodations, weather, staff, excursions, PERFECT! We will return on a regular basis!
